Last night, the 2019 Irish Whiskey Awards took place at the Dingle Distillery in County Kerry.
Now in its seventh year, the awards represent the renaissance of the Irish Whiskey Industry both in Ireland and abroad. The awards span over an impressive range of categories, with over 20 celebrating different types of whiskey, whiskey bars and even other spirits produced by distilleries. The Irish Whiskey Awards celebrate both established and emerging distilleries and whiskey producers. This year also celebrated a huge achievement for the Irish whiskey industry as a whole. 2019 shipments reached a record level in excess of one billion dollars.
The awards were blind judged in July and August of this year by various Whiskey Clubs and Societies. Both national and regional chapters took part, alongside overseas members and of the trade and whiskey media. There were around 130 entrants in total.
